50 Years Ago Today:

The Fox Cities Foxes had a scheduled off day. They were 42-26 with a four game lead on Sioux City in the Three-I League.

The Foxes would need the off day. They are heading to Lincoln to start a series on July 9.

25 Years Ago Today:

Most of the Appleton Foxes were off, but the Midwest League All-Star Game was held at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Foxes were part of the Northern All-Stars. Thee Southern All-Stars won the game 4-2 in 11 innings.

Jim Markert of the Foxes had an RBI single to drive in the first run of the game for the North. Later in the ninth, an RBI single by Joey Aragon of Wausau to send the game into extra innings.

Dan Scarpetta (the father of former Timber Rattlers pitcher Cody Scarpetta) gave up a leadoff single to Miguel Roman of Waterloo in the bottom of the eleventh. Then, Darcy Walker of Peoria hit a game-ending home run for the South.
