No, not Jack McGee. Jacob McGee. If Southwest Michigan starting pitcher Jake McGee was tracking the Incredible Hulk, there is no way that show would have lasted five seasons. And maybe the National Register would have been a highly respected paper breaking stories about political corruption instead of green monsters and alien abductions.
Jake McGee struck out eight over six shutout innings and got out of a bases loaded, no out jam in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Devil Rays banged out thirteen hits, but scored only four runs.
The Rattlers offensive woes continued. In seven losses at Fox Cities Stadium, they have scored twelve runs.
By my unofficial tally, Rattler starter Justin Thomas tossed over 90 pitches in just five innings. He was in trouble all night, but almost got out unscathed. However, a two out homer by Matt Spring in the top of the fifth put the Devil Rays in front 1-0. That homered tagged Thomas with the eventual loss. Thomas is 1-2 with an ERA of 1.00 in three starts for the Rattlers this season. In his two losses, the Rattler hitters have scored a total of one run.
Get 'em tomorrow. 11:35am CDT start Wednesday.
