Sunday Reading

Here are a few things of note around the web worth checking out today during the Rattler game.

Rattler Notebook Brett Christopherson talks with Rattler President Rob Zerjav about the incident in West Michigan. Also a couple of brief notes about the umpires and the totally AWESOME weather in April.

Tom Hardricourt's Sunday column from the Journal-Sentinel. Derek Lee's injury, Cecil Cooper's thought on Prince Fielder, Andy Pafko, Greg Maddux, and Moneyball are all in there. Plus, his Major League Power Rankings for each league. Mariners 12th in the AL. Brewers 9th in the NL.

Bucks in Playoffs? Apparently the Milwaukee Bucks have made it to the NBA playoffs. Here is a preview article for their series with the...the... the Detroit Pistons?

Cheerleaders in Baseball? From the Dayton Daily News. The Reds are trying to do some non-traditional things to bring the fans to Great American Ballpark. The always quotable (and non-traditional) Mike Veeck is quoted reacting to those who don't do non-traditional:

"I've been hearing this garbage since I was a little boy, all the charges they
leveled at my father about these things not fitting in baseball," said Mike
Veeck, a minor-league baseball team owner whose father, Bill, gained a
reputation for creative and sometimes wild entertainment ideas as a major-league
owner for close to 30 years. "They say it's a traditional game, it should be
this, it should be that.

"Well guess what? That doesn't work for everyone."

Thank the Lord for Mike Veeck.

JO-DY, JO-DY DA-VIS! That works better if you sing it after a few Budweisers. Ryan Ori of the Peoria Journal-Star talks catching with one of my childhood idols and also gives a look at how the Chicago Cub minor league system is affected by the Lee injury.
