So, occasionally on this blog, I'll take a look around and see what I can find out about former Rattlers.
One of the more popular former Rattlers I get asked about the most is Justin Leone. He was on the 2000 team and was a great guy. He hit 18 homers that season. Leone broke up a no hitter in Battle Creek with a homer in the top of the ninth inning.
What made me think of this semi-regular feature was seeing his name pop up on MiLB.com as the Pacific Coast League Offensive Player of the Week:
Portland third baseman Justin Leone went deep six times and had at least one RBI in 10 of 11 games while driving in three runs on three different occasions.
Leone struggled in a few call ups with the Mariners, but it is good to see him doing well. Maybe he will get a call from the Padres later this season.
For more on Justin, please go to here for a little Q&A with Leone on the Portland Beaver website.
