Tuesday in the MWL

@Fort Wayne 13, Wisconsin 4 -- It didn't get any better reading about it in the paper this morning. At least the web sites of both Fort Wayne papers are down this morning. Plus, here's the reason there were only 1,003 fans here last night, but the parking lot was full. Komet Hockey, Baby!!! 5,486 saw a 5-4 win over the Rockford IceHogs in the arena in the same complex as Memorial Stadium.

@Lansing 4, Cedar Rapids 0 -- Why do I have the feeling the Lugnuts are pretty good this year?

Clinton 14, @South Bend 3 -- Another day, another home run for John Mayberry, another LumberKing loss...er, wait. Nevermind.

Burlington 2, @Southwest Michigan 0 (10 innings) -- Scoreless? Into extra-innings? Between a team that is hitting .222 (D-Rays) and a team that is hitting .214 (Bees)? Shocked! I say, shocked!

@West Michigan 3, Kane County 2 (12 innings) -- Dusty Ryan extends his hitting streak and helps the Whitecaps win with that rarest of feats...A walk-off, extra-inning triple.

@Dayton 4, Peoria 1 -- No, seriously. The Dragons are on FIRE

Beloit 6, @Quad Cities 5 -- Nothing like a good lede from Steve Batterson of the Quad Cities Times after a five error game by the home team to start your morning:

The Swing of the Quad-Cities didn’t actually leave their gloves behind when the team bus pulled out of Fort Wayne late Monday night.

It just looked that way at times Tuesday as the Swing opened a 12-game homestand by suffering through another error-filled effort in a 6-5 Midwest League loss to Beloit at John O’Donnell Stadium
