Mariner System Report (Games of 4/23)

Seattle (MAJ: 7-13; 4th AL West): Detroit defeated the Mariners 6-4 for a three game sweep at Safeco. Felix Hernandez (WI ’03) gave up three runs (one earned), struck out nine over seven innings, and got the loss. Clint Nageotte (WI ’01), who was supposed to start the game in Tacoma on Sunday, was called up prior to the Mariner game and pitched the eighth inning and gave up a three run home run. Nageotte was sent back to Tacoma after Sunday's game.

Tacoma (AAA – 10-6; 1st PCL Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 7-2 to Fresno. Tacoma had just five hits in the loss. Rich Dorman (WI ’03) got the start in place of Nageotte and gave up one run on three hits and three walks in four innings for a no decision.

San Antonio (AA – 5-11; 4th Texas League South Division): The Missions lost 2-1 at Midland on a home run in the bottom of the ninth by Jason Perry. San Antonio had a 1-0 lead after a solo homer by Bryan LaHair (WI ’04) in the top of the fourth. But, the RockHounds scored a run off Yorman Bazardo in the seventh to tie the game. The Missions losing streak is up to nine games.

Inland Empire (High-A – 9-7; T-1st California League South Division):The Blaze defeated the 66ers 9-2 in the completion of the suspended game from Friday. Then, Bakersfield hammered Inland Empire 15-4. Justin Jordan (WI ’05) took the loss. Yung Chi Chen (WI ’05) homered and scored two runs for the 66ers.
