Mariner System Report (Games of 9/2)

Seattle (MAJ: 64-71; 4th AL West): The Mariners won 4-3 at Tampa Bay. Cha Seung Baek (WI ’00) gave up one run and struck out four over 6-2/3 innings to move his record to 2-0. JJ Putz (WI ’00) pitched the final two innings for his 29th save. Adrian Beltre drove in a pair of runs to help the Mariners end their twelve game road losing streak.

Tacoma (AAA – 73-69; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 7-6 to Tucson. TJ Bohn (WI ’03) went 4-for-5 with a homer and a pair of RBI for the Rainiers. Jon Nelson (WI ’03) homered and knocked in three for Tacoma. The Sidewinders have won eight straight over the Rainiers.

San Antonio (AA – 60-77; 33-36 second half 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio beat Corpus Christi 7-2. Marshall Hubbard (WI ’05) and Mike Wilson (WI ‘05) each had an RBI for the offense. Jason Mackintosh (WI ’04) and Ryan Rowland-Smith (WI ’03) each chipped in with scoreless work out of the bullpen.

Inland Empire (High-A – 72-65, 33-34 second half; 3rd California League South Division): Inland Empire lost 4-3 in thirteen innings to Lake Elsinore. Brandon Morrow got the start for the 66ers and pitched three scoreless innings with four strikeouts in his first California League game. Brent Johnson (WI ’05) was 3-for-6 with two RBI and Johan Limonta (WI ’06) also went 3-for-6 for Inland Empire. The 66ers lost despite the Storm only having four hits over the thirteen innings.

Everett (Short Season-A – 30-42; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 8-6 to Vancouver. Gavin Dickey hit a grand slam and Ougi Diaz was 4-for-4 for the offense. Chris Tillman gave up four runs on six hits and struck out nine over five innings for a no decision.
