Midwest League Action (8/6)

August 6 scoreboard.

Wisconsin 5, @Clinton 4: For the second straight night the Clinton LumberKings saw their lead slip away late in the game, but this time the LumberKings didn’t have enough magic to come back

West Michigan 1 @ Great Lakes 1 (Suspended): It was a dark and stormy night.

Fort Wayne 2, @Dayton 1 (11 innings): Brad Chalk’s one-out single brought in pinch-runner Robert Perry from third base to break a 1-1 tie in the top of the 11th inning as the Fort Wayne Wizards edged the Dayton Dragons 2-1 on Wednesday night.

Lansing 3, @ South Bend 1 (10 innings): An unusual play could have cost the South Bend Silver Hawks two runs in a 3-1 extra-inning Midwest League baseball loss to Lansing Wednesday night at Coveleski Stadium. South Bend had runners on second and third and two out in the second inning when Matt Oxendine's line drive caromed off umpire Phil Henry behind the pitcher's mound. The ball was dead and Oxendine was awarded first base, but the other runners could not advance.

@Kane County 8, Beloit 1: “[We] made their guy, Shooter – Shooter McGavin – [we] made him throw strikes,” Nieckula joked. “He got wild a little bit there in the fourth inning and we got to him.”

Burlington 6, @Peoria 2: "It's nice to come home and play in front of some hometown fans and family," Eigsti said. "You can say that I saw the ball well (Wednesday) and it found some barrels."

@Cedar Rapids 2, Quad Cities 0: The Cedar Rapids Kernels move into second place in the MWL West with a 2-0 victory over the Quad Cities River Bandits on Wednesday night.
