Tonight's Rattler Starting Pitcher (8/7)

LH EDWARD PAREDES: Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic by Seattle in May, 2005.

RATINGS: Baseball America ranked Paredes as the #22 prospect in the Seattle Mariner system before the start of the 2008 season.

BRAVO: Paredes took a no-hitter into the bottom of the eighth inning at Cedar Rapids on May 21. He allowed a two-out single to Anel De Los Santos, but finished the eighth without allowing another hit. The Rattlers beat the Kernels 1-0. Paredes struck out four and walked two for the win.

AWARD WINNER: Paredes was named the Midwest League pitcher of the week on May 26 for his performance on May 21.

LAST START: Paredes was beaten by Great Lakes on August 1 in Grand Chute. He allowed five runs one four hits with four walks over 3-1/3 innings. Paredes struck out two in the 8-6 loss to the Loons.

VS. CLINTON: Paredes pitched one inning in relief against the LumberKings at Alliant Energy Field on June 15. He did not allow a hit or a run; did not issue a walk; and did not strikeout anyone.
