@Peoria 6, Wisconsin 5: Maybe the blood-red moon that hung over O’Brien Field on Friday night had something to do with it. Or maybe that was merely coincidence. The mind starts searching for some sort of cause because it wants some sort of rational explanation for what it is witnessing.
Fort Wayne @ South Bend: PPD
Dayton 3 @ Lansing 2: Dayton version | Lugnuts version
@Great Lakes 3, West Michigan 0: As the Great Lakes Loons seek their first playoff berth in team history, they got three playoff-type pitching performances Friday against the West Michigan Whitecaps.
Quad Cities 4 @Burlington 2:
Down by two runs heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, the Burlington Bees still had a chance.@Cedar Rapids 8, Beloit 7 (11 innings): By all rights, this should have been a loss in regulation for the Kernels (63-47, 22-17). They trailed 6-1 in the sixth inning but rallied and tied the game on an absolute gift run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth.
Get a couple of hits, walks, small ball, the long ball, two runs is not an overwhelming deficit.
Unless you are the Bees, facing Quad Cities closer Matt Frevert.
Clinton 11 @Kane County 2: The “Hokey Pokey” just doesn’t have the same uplifting ring to it on damp evenings at Elfstrom Stadium during a pitching change when the road team is pulling away.
