50 Years Ago Today:

Fox Cities Foxes 5
Lincoln Chiefs...1

From the Post-Crescent story published on May 27, 1960:
Southpaw Pat Gillick hurled a slick 3-hitter here Thursday night to give the Foxes a 5-1 victory over Lincoln and a share of fourth place in the 3-I League.

After a double and two wild pitches gave the Chiefs their run in the first, Gillick let the hosts down with two singles the rest of the way. He struck out 10 and allowed none to get as far as third base in the final eight innings.
Also of note from the game. John "Boog" Powell hit his first home run of the season in this game. That tied the game 1-1 in the seventh. The Foxes scored three in the eighth and one in the ninth.

Fox Cities is 11-11 and four games behind first place Cedar Rapids.

25 Years Ago Today:

The Foxes and Brewers will play a Memorial Day doubleheader on May 27, 1985.

Appleton is still 27-14 and still in second in the Northern Division of the Midwest League.
