50 Years Ago Today:

The Fox Cities Foxes and the Green Bay Dodgers planned to have a Day-Night/Split-City doubleheader.

The day game scheduled for Goodland Field in Appleton. The night game was scheduled for Green Bay.

DAY GAME:

GREEN BAY DODGERS 1
FOX CITIES FOXES..8

From the Mike Drew story in the Post-Crescent:
Yes, it's true what they say about Arne.

After a stuttering start in a Fox Cities' uniform, $40,000 bonus right-hander Arne Thorsland lived up to his press notices Monday afternoon in a 3-hit 8-1 win over the Green Bay Dodgers.
Thorsland pitched a complete game, walked three, and struck out 10.

Photi Anthony had four RBI in the game for the offense.

NIGHT GAME:

FOX CITIES
GREEN BAY
PPD RAIN

Interesting concept. Weather can mess up even the best plans.

The Foxes are 14-11 and in third place 2.5 games behind Cedar Rapids in the Three-I League.

Tony Mendez pitched 8-1/3 innings and allowed two runs on six hits to move his record to 5-1. Dave White came on in the ninth to get out of a jam for his eighth save of the season.

Jerry Bertolani homered and drove in a pair of runs for the Foxes.

Appleton pushes their lead in the Northern Division of the Midwest League to 2.5 games over Madison.

The Foxes are 31-15 after this win in Kenosha.
