A reporter asked Choo if it was difficult for him to learn English, and he replied with a look that said, "Of course."
"Have you ever tried Korean?" he asked, drawing a laugh.
The Indians are hoping Choo will be as adept at adjusting to his new surroundings as he was at adjusting to a new language.
They're going to make the left-hander their starting right fielder against right-handed pitching, giving Casey Blake starts at first base on those days.
So far, he is making the most of that chance. He is 16-for-47 with 2HRs and 12RBI since the trade. In August, Choo is 14-for-31 (.451) with a homer and 11RBI in nine games. What was also hurting Choo was the glut of outfielders in the Seattle system.
"The trade was good for me," he said. "There was no chance in Seattle, and there's more [of a] chance here."
