Mariner System Report (Games of 8/25)

Seattle (MAJ: 59-69; 4th AL West): The Mariners beat the Red Sox 6-0. Chris Snelling (WI ’00) had two hits and scored a pair of runs. Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez also had two hits and added a run. Eric O’Flaherty (WI ’05) did not give up a run over the final 1-2/3 to complete the shutout.

Tacoma (AAA – 70-64; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma got swept in a doubleheader by Tucson for the second day in a row. Tucson beat the Rainiers 11-2 in game one. Adam Jones (WI ’04) hit a home run for Tacoma. In game two, Tucson won 4-3. Greg Dobbs (WI ’02) had three hits and drove in a pair of runs for the Rainiers.

San Antonio (AA – 56-73; 29-32 second half 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 3-2 to Midland in thirteen innings. The Missions scored a pair of runs in the first inning, but were held off the scoreboard for the rest of the game. Ryan Rowland-Smith (WI ’03) struck out seven and allowed one hit over four scoreless innings of relief.

Inland Empire (High-A – 68-62, 29-31 second half; 3rd California League South Division): Inland Empire lost 7-6 to Bakersfield. Jack Arroyo (WI ’05) drove in a pair of runs for the 66ers. However, five of the seven runs scored by the Blaze were unearned.

Everett (Short Season-A – 29-36; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett beat Eugene 3-2. Dean Zorn drove in the go ahead run in the top of the ninth with a single. Oak Creek, Wisconsin native Tony Butler pitched four scoreless innings with five hits and three strikeouts for a no decision.

AZL M’s (Rookie – 24-27; 10-13 T-6th Arizona League): The Mariners were off yesterday.
