Mariner System Report (Games of 8/20)

Seattle (MAJ: 56-68; 4th AL West): The Mariners lost 3-2 to the Angels. Richie Sexson homered for the Mariners and Chris Snelling had a hit. But, JJ Putz (WI ’00) allowed an inherited runner to score in the eighth and a run in the ninth for a loss.

Tacoma (AAA – 69-59; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 4-3 to Las Vegas. Greg Dobbs (WI ‘02) had a pair of hits for the Rainiers. Emiliano Fruto (WI ’02) allowed a pair of late runs for a blown save and a loss on a sunny day in Tacoma.

San Antonio (AA – 53-71; 26-30 second half 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 7-0 at Tulsa. The Missions had only five hits. Jason Mackintosh (WI ’04) pitched 2-2/3 innings of scoreless relief for San Antonio.

Inland Empire (High-A – 66-59, 27-28 second half; 3rd California League South Division): Inland Empire shutout Rancho Cucamonga 5-0. Shawn Nottingham (WI ’05) pitched seven innings, struck out six and allowed six hits for the win.

Everett (Short Season-A – 28-32; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 8-1 to Yakima. Dean Zorn had a pair of hits. Anthony Butler gave up three runs on two hits and six walks with seven strikeouts over 3-2/3 innings and took the loss.

AZL M’s (Rookie – 24-24; 10-10 5th Arizona League): The Mariners were off on Sunday.
