MarinerSystem Report (Games of 8/16)

Seattle (MAJ: 56-64; 4th AL West): The Mariners lost 4-0 at Oakland. The offense had ten hits, but the M's lost their fifteenth straight game to Oakland. Eric O’Flaherty made his major league debut for Seattle and pitched 2/3 of an inning and allowed a hit, walked one, struck out one, and did not give up a run.

Tacoma (AAA – 67-57; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma split a doubleheader with Tucson. The Rainiers won game one 4-2. Bobby Livingston (WI ’03) got the win; Emiliano Fruto (WI ’02) got the save; and Jon Nelson (WI ’03) homered and knocked in a pair of runs. In game two, the Sidewinders won 6-3, but Kevin Reynolds (WI ’06) went 1-for-1 for the Rainiers.

San Antonio (AA – 51-69; 24-28 second half 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 11-10 at Wichita. Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) was 2-for-4 with his nineteenth homer and three RBI. Mike Wilson (WI ’05) also homered. Marshall Hubbard (WI ’05) and Matt Tuiasosopo (WI ’05) each had three hits, but the Missions lost their twelfth game in a row.

Inland Empire (High-A – 63-58, 24-27 second half; T-3rd California League South Division): Inland Empire lost 5-3 at Lake Elsinore. Cibney Bello (WI ’05) struck out eight over six innings, but allowed all five Storm runs for the loss. Luis Valbuena (WI ’06) had two hits for the 66ers.

Everett (Short Season-A – 26-30; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett was off on Wednesday.

AZL M’s (Rookie – 22-23; 8-9 T-5th Arizona League): The Mariners beat the Athletics 8-1. Jason Snyder (WI ’06) allowed an unearned run over two innings with three walks for the win. Welington Dotel had a pair of hits and drove in two runs for the M’s.
