Mariner System Report (Games of 8/17)

Seattle (MAJ: 56-65; 4th AL West): The Mariners lost 5-2 at Los Angeles. Mark Lowe (WI ’05) faced four batters in the seventh and did not retire any of them. Lowe also gave up his first two runs as a Major Leaguer. Seattle has lost eight in a row.

Tacoma (AAA – 67-58; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 3-1 to Tucson in fourteen innings. Jeff Clement (WI ’05) had three hits. Emiliano Fruto (WI ’02) allowed a two-out, two-run bloop double in the top of the fourteenth and took the loss.

San Antonio (AA – 52-69; 25-28 second half 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio snapped their losing streak at twelve with a 4-3 win at Wichita. Scott Youngbauer drove in the go ahead run in the top of the ninth. Yung Chi Chen (WI ’05) drove in a run and Chad Fillinger (WI ’05) blew the save, but got the win.

Inland Empire (High-A – 64-58, 25-27 second half; 3rd California League South Division): Inland Empire beat Lake Elsinore 2-1. Luis Valbuena (WI ’06) had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the 66ers.

Everett (Short Season-A – 27-30; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett beat Yakima 8-5. Chris Tillman struck out ten and allowed one hit over six shutout innings. Manelik Pimentel was 3-for-4 with a pair of homers and five RBI for the Sox.

AZL M’s (Rookie – 23-23; 9-9 5th Arizona League): The Mariners beat the Cubs 6-2.
