Seattle (MAJ: 58-69; 4th AL West): The Mariners beat the Yankees 4-2. Richie Sexson and Jose Lopez each had a pair of RBI. JJ Putz (WI ’00) pitched a scoreless ninth for his 26th save.
Tacoma (AAA – 70-62; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma got swept in a doubleheader by Tucson. The Sidewinders beat Tacoma 6-0 in game one. Rich Dorman (WI ’03) pitched a complete game and struck out six but got the loss. In game two, Tucson won 5-1. Adam Jones (WI ’04) drove in the only run for the Rainiers.
San Antonio (AA – 56-72; 29-31 second half 4th Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 5-3 to Midland. Marshall Hubbard (WI ’05) had a pair of doubles and an RBI for the Missions, who fell 4-1/2 games behind Midland with ten games to play.
Inland Empire (High-A – 68-61, 29-30 second half; T-2nd California League South Division): Inland Empire beat Lancaster 7-1. Omar Falcon (WI ’05) had three hits and three RBI. Justin Thomas (WI ’06) allowed one run on five hits with six strikeouts over seven innings for the win.
Everett (Short Season-A – 28-36; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 4-3 at Salem-Keizer. Ricky Orta struck out seven over 4-2/3 innings for a no decision. The Volcanoes scored twice in the bottom of the ninth for the win.
AZL M’s (Rookie – 24-27; 10-13 6th Arizona League): The Mariners lost 10-5 to the Brewers.
