@Wisconsin 2, Quad Cities 1: "So we just came out, did our job, and got a W for the crowd."
@West Michigan 5, South Bend 2: The Whitecaps played in front of an energetic Fifth Third Ballpark crowd of 7,598 on Thursday night that provided support all night, and perhaps no one more than starting pitcher Casey Crosby felt those positive vibes.
Great Lakes 14, @Dayton 3: “It’s a learning experience,” Dragons manager Todd Benzinger said. “It’s one of those games you have to recognize what you did wrong and then forget about it. That’s the good thing about baseball. Not only do you play 24 hours later, but you get a chance to play the same team that kicked your butt.”
Fort Wayne 4, @Lansing 0: Give the Lugnuts an A for their first game Thursday - but it's either for aggressive or antsy.
@Clinton 6, Burlington 3: Maximo Mendez drove home two runs and scored one more to help the Clinton LumberKings spoil the home opener for the Burlington Bees in a 6-3 win Thursday night.
@Cedar Rapids 7, Beloit 6 (10 innings): The Cedar Rapids Kernels gave it away Thursday night. Then they took it back. Then they gave it away again. Then they took it back … for good.
Also from that story:
The thing about the rally is Manager Bill Mosiello literally saw none of it. Some kind of reaction to his contact lenses blurred Mosiello’s vision to the point he had to quit coaching third base after the fourth inning.@Peoria 4, Kane County 1: Nobody would have faulted the Peoria Chiefs if they thought that Thursday just wasn’t going to be their night.
