I probably would have made the same choice

You're the Cedar Rapids Gazette. You have a big game between the Kernels and the Clinton LumberKings on the docket. PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS!!! You also have an iconic group appearing at the game. You can only do one story...well, a column, a blog post, a video in the blog post, and a photo essay...on one of the events.

At 4:30 Thursday, a Gazette sports editor got an e-mail from the Kernels saying there was a 5 p.m. press conference scheduled with the Cheerleaders.

I was trying to finish an excruciatingly dull column about a preseason college football magazine’s views on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Since the ballpark was on my way home, anyhow ...

A makeshift podium was set up in the press box, as well as nine chairs for the assembled media. Two of the Cheerleaders arrived. The assembled media was just me.

Everything about this felt like an elaborate prank, but it was what it was.

That is from a Mike Hlas column. The photo essay is at the link for the column. You're welcome, guys.

And it's good to see that Jeff Johnson is doing the Lord's work.

Meanwhile in Kane County last night, I saw Myron Noodleman for the 175th time.

I'm willing to bet that $10k plus expenses is a bit out of the Rattlers budget huh?
