Midwest League Action: Games of June 19, 2009

Complete scoreboard

Wisconsin @ Kane County: PPD

@Cedar Rapids 6, Clinton 1: The beer was flowing freely around a deliriously happy home clubhouse last night after the Cedar Rapids Kernels clinched a Midwest League playoff spot with a 6-1 win over the Clinton LumberKings at Memorial Stadium.

@Peoria 12, Burlington 10: The Peoria Chiefs probably did not deserve to win Friday night. Then again, the Burlington Bees probably didn’t, either. After all, the teams combined for 11 errors and twice as many runs. Still, the Chiefs gutted out a 12-10 Midwest League victory after they spotted Burlington an 8-0 lead after three innings.

@Great Lakes 10, Lansing 1: “The guys are playing good and we’re on a nice roll now,” said Loons’ manager Juan Bustabad. “It’s nice to see them make adjustments. They’re getting better each day.”

West Michigan 6 @Dayton 0: Dragons manager Todd Benzinger knew first baseman Joey Votto was being considered for a rehab assignment in Dayton, where he played in 2003 and 2004, and late Friday night, June 19, found out it would happen. It’s just that after West Michigan beat the Dragons 6-0 at Fifth Third Field, Benzinger still wasn’t certain exactly how much Votto would play, either tonight against the Whitecaps or Sunday in the final game of the home-stand.

Fort Wayne 3 @South Bend 1: Suspended

Quad Cities @ Beloit: PPD
