Midwest League Action: Games of June21, 2009

Complete scoreboard

@Kane County 6, Wisconsin 0: After Wisconsin starter Cody Adams -- an Illinois native and former Southern Illinois University star -- walked Grant Desme, Petey Paramore and Dusty Napoleon to load the bases in the second, Hernandez broke out of his slump in a big way. After two awkward swings to start the sequence, Hernandez turned on an Adams offering and planted it into the left-field deck to open a 4-0 lead.

@South Bend 8, Fort Wayne 3: It took until the final game of the first half of the season, but South Bend's Silver Hawks finally managed to put a dent in the Fort Wayne TinCaps. South Bend's 8-3 minor-league baseball victory on Sunday against Fort Wayne ended a nine-game losing streak, and it was the first time South Bend beat Fort Wayne in 12 tries.

@Dayton 7, West Michigan 6: With a big smile and a happy demeanor, Reds first baseman Joey Votto — Dragons first baseman for a pair of days — said he felt good, and “it felt like I wasn’t distracted with what I was distracted with before.” He didn’t say what was distracting him before, but he did collect an RBI hit, a walk and scored a run in the Dragons’ 7-6 victory over West Michigan in front of 9,019 at Fifth Third Field on Sunday, June 21, and said he would complete his day by speaking with Reds General Manager Walt Jocketty and manager Dusty Baker before deciding on his next step.

Burlington 7 @Peoria 1: It wasn’t exactly the way the Peoria Chiefs planned to finish the Midwest League’s first half.

Lansing 9 @Great Lakes 8: Lugnuts version | Loooooons version

Clinton 6 @Cedar Rapids 4: Don’t dwell too much on the final two days. Look at the big picture because it’s pretty.

Quad Cities 6 @Beloit 4: River Bandits version | Snappers version
