Midwest League Action: Games of June 9, 2009

Complete scoreboard

@Wisconsin 3, Beloit 1: A pair of doubles was all the Timber Rattlers needed to earn a split in the four-game series with the Snappers at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute on Tuesday.

@Great Lakes 1, Dayton 0 (8 innings);
Dayton 3 @Great Lakes 2 (8 innings): Loooooons version | Dragons version

@Lansing 8, West Michigan 2;
West Michigan 5, @Lansing 3 (11 innings): Lirette (2-0) threw a seven-inning, four-hit complete game and struck out four and only walked one in the 8-2 win. West Michigan salvaged a split with a 5-3 win in 11 innings in the second game. Avisail Garcia's two-RBI triple in the top of the 11th was the winning hit of the second game.

Fort Wayne 7 @ South Bend 6: Looking for a way to snap his team out of its tailspin, South Bend Silver Hawks manager Mark Haley broke up the pre-game routine Tuesday with some fun drills and fun hitting situations. But Haley's Silver Hawks couldn't break the routine of losing that they've fallen into this past week, although they came close.

@Kane County 5, Peoria 4 (10 innings): Peoria designated hitter Nelson Perez hit a blast off the right-field party deck to give the Chiefs a second-inning lead and left fans with open-mouthed expressions. But Grant Desme’s 10th inning walk-off bomb over the scoreboard in left didn’t even give fans enough time to drop their jaws in awe before it was out of sight. “We like it when they end like that,” Cougars manager Steve Scarsone said.

@Cedar Rapids 11, Burlington 5: Kernels version | Bees version

@Quad Cities 7, Clinton 3: "I was sitting fastball, just trying to get on base and get us going. It's been tough lately, but this was a good all-around game we hopefully can carry over into the next series.'' - Castellanos on his first-inning homer and the Bandits' fifth win in 20 games
