The Foxes had a 3-1 lead after eight innings. BUT, Fox Cities committed three errors in the top of the ninth and Sioux City scored three runs in the top of the ninth.

John Papa allowed a run on three hits and struck out 10 in the first eight innings. Then, an error, an error on a double play ball, and a walk loaded the bases. Two sac flies, a walk, and a single put the Soos up 4-3.

Papa's line: 8.2IP, 4H, 12BBs, 9 Ks, Loss

The Foxes are 6-7 on the season.

Appleton had a 3-0 lead heading to the top of the fourth inning. Foxes starting pitcher Tony Mendez gave up five runs in the top of the fourth. The Rangers added two runs in the top of the seventh to give them enough cushion to withstand the late Foxes rally.

From the Gary Shriver article in the Post-Crescent:
"We just didn't play well," said Foxes manager Sal Rende. "We made some poor plays and we didn't execute well. So far this year, the story of this team is inconsistency. We'll play well for 4 or 5 games, but then we'll play badly. A lot of that, I think, has to do with the fact that we're a young club. By the end of the season that will be corrected."
The Foxes are 20-12 and trail first place Madison by four games.
