Game Notes for 7/13

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The Timber Rattlers beat the Chiefs 15-2. Wisconsin set a season high for runs in a game, hits in a game (18), and extra base hits in a game (10). Jeff Flaig had four hits and four RBI for the Rattlers. David Asher was the winning pitcher and went five shutout innings for the victory.

FLAIG DAY: Flaig became the fourth Timber Rattler to collect four hits in a game this season with his performance. He had two doubles and two singles in five at bats. Flaig also became the second Rattler to drive in four RBI in a game this season. Nick Prosise had four RBI on May 27 at Kane County.

ASHER WEDNESDAY: Asher made his first professional start a memorable one. He allowed two hits and two walks with four strikeouts over a career high five innings. Asher had made forty straight relief appearances in his professional career before getting the start last night.

A RUN IN THE PARK: Johan Limonta hit his first professional home run last night. His two-run, inside-the-park homer gave the Rattlers a 5-0 lead in the top of the third inning.

JUST SHY: Rattler outfielder Kuo Hui Lo had a single, double, and triple last night missing only a home run for the cycle.

MOST SINCE: The Rattlers fifteen runs last night were the most they have scored in a game this season. The most runs scored by the Rattlers in a game last season were 17 in a 17-5 win over Clinton on June 15, 2005 at Alliant Energy Field.

THE EXTRA MILE: Wisconsin’s ten extra base hits broke out like this: Eight doubles, one triple, and one home run.

LONG & WINDING ROAD: The Rattlers broke a twelve game road losing streak with the victory last night. In the last eight games of that streak, the Rattlers scored twenty runs.

ANOTHER STREAK ENDS: Rattler catcher Travis Scott was behind the plate and contributed a pair of doubles and a pair of RBI. Scott had been 0-11 in his first eleven starts as the catcher for the Rattlers.

OPPOSING STARTING PITCHER: Jesus Yepez was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Cubs in 2002. Last season, he was 4-2 with an ERA of 3.92 in fourteen games (thirteen starts) for the Boise Hawks of the Northwest League. He is 0-1 with two starts against the Rattlers this season. Over twelve innings against Wisconsin, Yepez has allowed three runs on seven hits with four walks and nine strikeouts. In his last start for the Chiefs, Yepez got a no decision against Beloit at Pohlman Field. He allowed nine hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings with a walk and a pair of strikeouts.
