Seattle (MAJ: 44-47; 4th AL West): Seattle lost 7-6 in fourteen innings at Toronto. Former Appleton Fox Raul Ibanez homered and drove in four runs for the Mariners. Julio Mateo (WI ’00), Mark Lowe (WI ’05), and Rafael Soriano (WI ’00) combined for 5-1/3 innings of scoreless relief, but Emiliano Fruto (WI ’02) got the loss by allowing a run in the fourteenth.
Tacoma (AAA – 51-40; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 7-6 at Portland. The Rainiers had a 5-1 lead after the top of the sixth and a 6-3 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, but the Beavers scored three in the eighth and one in the ninth for the win. Shin soo Choo (WI ’02) had four hits, including a home run. Jeff Clement (WI ’05) also homered for the Rainiers. Justin Leone (WI ’00) homered for the Beavers. Cha Seung Baek (WI ’00) struck out eight without a walk over six innings, but got a no decision.
San Antonio (AA – 40-50; 13-9 second half 2nd Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 4-2 at Springfield. Yung Chi Chen (WI ’05) homered and knocked in two for the Missions. Robert Rohrbaugh (WI ’05) allowed three runs on seven hits over seven innings for the loss.
Inland Empire (High-A – 50-41, 11-10 second half; 3rd California League South Division): Inland Empire beat Lancaster 8-7. The 66ers rallied from a 7-5 deficit heading into the bottom of the ninth. Luis Oliveros (WI ’02) dropped a suicide squeeze bunt with the bases loaded to drive in the winning run. Brent Johnson (WI ’05) was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Joe Woerman (WI ’06) got the win with one inning of scoreless relief.
Everett (Short Season-A – 14-12; T-3rd Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 8-4 at Spokane. Manelik Pimentel was 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Sox.
AZL M’s (Rookie – 10-9; 4th Arizona League): The Mariners beat the Brewers 18-2. Gerardo Avila hit a homer and drove in five runs for the M’s.
