Mariner System Report (Games of 7/27)

Seattle (MAJ: 49-52; 4th AL West): The Mariners were off yesterday.

Tacoma (AAA – 55-49; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma lost 9-2 to New Orleans. Rich Dorman (WI ’03) gave up five runs on six hits over 4-2/3 innings and took the loss. Jon Nelson (WI ’03) had a pair of hits and two RBI for the Rainiers.

San Antonio (AA – 48-54; 21-13 second half 1st Texas League South Division): San Antonio lost 4-3 at Midland. The RockHounds scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie. Mike Wilson (WI ’05) had two hits and two RBI for the Missions.

Inland Empire (High-A – 54-48, 15-17 second half; 4th California League South Division): Inland Empire beat Lancaster 15-6. The win snapped a four game losing streak. Josh Womack (WI ’05) went 3-for-5 with a pair of runs and five RBI for the 66ers. Luis Valbuena (WI ’06) had three hits, including his first California League home run, and drove in two runs. Justin Jordan (WI ’05) allowed four runs on eight hits over five innings for the win.

Everett (Short Season-A – 17-21; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 13-2 at Eugene. The Sox fell behind 8-0 after the bottom of the fourth inning and couldn’t make up the difference.

AZL M’s (Rookie – 15-14; 1-0 T-1st Arizona League): The Mariners started the second half with a 9-0 win over the AZL Athletics. Clint Nageotte (WI ’01) pitched three scoreless innings and allowed three hits while striking out one on a rehab assignment.
