Seattle (MAJ: 46-51; 4th AL West): The Mariners beat Boston 5-2. Felix Hernandez (WI ’03) pitched seven innings and allowed two runs on four hits for his ninth win. Mark Lowe (WI ’05) pitched a scoreless eighth and JJ Putz (WI ’00) worked a scoreless ninth for his nineteenth save. Ichiro and Eduardo Perez each drove in two runs for the Mariners.
Tacoma (AAA – 54-45; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma split a doubleheader in the oven that was Fresno last night. In game one, TJ Bohn (WI ’03) hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to give the Rainiers a 7-5 win. The Grizzlies won game two 7-5. Rob Johnson (WI ’05) and Bryan LaHair (WI ’04) both homered in the second game for the Rainiers. Fresno scored a pair of unearned runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 5-5 tie.
San Antonio (AA – 45-52; 18-11 second half 1st Texas League South Division): San Antonio beat Frisco 5-1. Travis Blackley gave up one run over 8-2/3 innings and struck out nine for the win. Marshall Hubbard (WI ’05) drove in a run and Eric O'Flaherty got the final out for a save for the Missions.
Inland Empire (High-A – 53-44, 14-13 second half; 3rd California League South Division): Inland Empire beat Rancho Cucamonga 4-3. Justin Jordan (WI ’05) pitched five scoreless innings and gave up one hit while striking out five. Casey Craig (WI ’06) and Omar Falcon (WI ’05) each homered for the 66ers.
Everett (Short Season-A – 15-18; 4th Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 6-1 at Salem-Keizer. Everett had six hits in the game. Natividad Dilone allowed three runs on six hits and five walks over 4-2/3 innings for the loss.
AZL M’s (Rookie – 13-12; T-4th Arizona League): The Mariners lost 6-3 to the Cubs.
