Mariner System Report (Games of 5/5)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 13-12; 2nd AL West): The Mariners lost 8-1 to the Yankees in New York. Ben Broussard broke up Chein-Ming Wang’s attempt at a perfect game with a one-out home run in the top of the eighth inning. The Mariners had two hits in the loss.

TACOMA (AAA: 14-16; 2nd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 9-3 to Salt Lake at home. Wladimir Balentien (WI ’04) hit a three run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to account for all of Tacoma’s runs. Adam Jones (WI ’04) had three hits for the Rainiers.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 13-16; T-3rd Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx beat Mobile 5-2 at home. Prentice Redman had a pair of solo home runs for West Tennessee. Doug Fister allowed two runs (one earned) over six innings with six strikeouts for the win.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 10-20; 5th California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 8-4 at Modesto. Ron Garth (WI ’06) had a pair of RBI and Chris Colton (WI ’05) homered for High Desert, but Modesto was up 8-0 after four innings.
