SEATTLE (MAJ: 19-20; 3rd AL West): The Mariners lost 2-1 to San Diego. Felix Hernandez (WI ’03) struck out nine over five innings, but allowed two runs to take the loss.
TACOMA (AAA: 19-25; 4th Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers beat Tucson 4-3 in a rain-shortened game. Jon Nelson (WI ’03) had a pair of RBI and Jeff Clement (WI ’05) homered for Tacoma. A downpour stopped the game in the bottom of the eighth inning.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 18-25; 4th Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 8-7 in eleven innings at Huntsville. Luis Valbunea (WI ’06) drove in a pair of runs to help West Tennessee build a 7-3 lead. But, the Stars rallied for three runs in the sixth, one in the ninth, and one in the eleventh to beat the Diamond Jaxx.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 17-27; 5th California League South Division): The Mavericks beat San Jose 6-5. Both Chris Colton (WI ’05) and Josh Womack (WI ’05) homered in the game for High Desert. Cibney Bello (WI ’05) got the win and Paul Fagan (WI ’06) got the save by getting the final three outs.
