SEATTLE (MAJ: 20-21; T-2nd AL West): The Mariners beat Tampa Bay 5-2. Former Wisconsin-Oshkosh Titan Jarrod Washburn allowed two runs over 6-1/3 innings for the win. JJ Putz (WI ’00) pitched a scoreless ninth inning for his eleventh save. Yuniesky Betancourt and Kenji Johjima homered for the M’s.
TACOMA (AAA: 20-26; 4th Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 8-6 to Las Vegas. Adam Jones (WI ’04) homered and drove in four runs for Tacoma. Rob Johnson (WI ’05) also hit a home run for the Rainiers.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 19-26; 4th Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 11-3 at Huntsville. Brent Johnson (WI ’05) hit a home run and scored two runs for West Tennessee. But, that was about it.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 18-27; 5th California League South Division): The Mavericks beat Lake Elsinore 6-5. Michael Saunders (WI ’06) hit a pair of home runs, including a game-ending shot in the bottom of the ninth. Chris Colton (WI ’05) also homered for High Desert. Austin Bibens-Dirkx got the win with 1-1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
