Braves: May 6, 1957

The '57 Milwaukee Braves lost some of the breathing room they created with a win over the Dodgers on May 5. Brooklyn topped the Braves 5-4 in fourteen innings on May 6 at Ebbets Field. This was the fourth extra inning game in six days for the Braves.

The Braves got a first inning run when Eddie Matthews homered off Don Drysdale with two outs.

Brooklyn came back with three in the bottom of the first off Lew Burdette. Carl Furillo hit a three run homer.

Matthews homered again in the sixth inning. Joe Adcock tied the game with another home run. This one was off Dodger reliever Clem Labine.

The score remained tied until the top of the twelfth. Milwaukee scored a run on a Johnny Logan sacrifice fly.

Burdette was still in the game for the bottom of the tweflth. He got the first two outs by striking out Duke Snider and Jim Gilliam to ground out 6-3. Then, Gino Cimoli doubled for his fourth hit of the game. Furillo singled in Cimoli to tie the game.

Cimoli picked up his fifth hit of the game with a lead off homer off Red Murff in the bottom of the fourteenth.

Sandy Koufax got the win by pitcing a scoreless top of the fourteenth.

The Braves are 13-4 with just a one game lead on the Dodgers in the NL.

Milwaukee continues their sixteen game road trip with a game against the Phillies on May 7.
