Braves: May 21, 1957

The '57 Braves played to a 1-1 tie in five innings against the Phillies on May 21 at County Stadium...Barely.

Philadelphia took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on a Bob Bowman sacrifice fly.

Pitcher Gene Conley tied the score with a two-out single in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game...Retrosheet, take it away.
O'Connell forced Conley (shortstop unassisted); 5 minute delay at the start of the top of the 6th. Batting events for thePhillies in the 6th don't count as there was a 31 minute raindelay at the start of the bottom of the 6th inning. Game called with the score tied at 1-1

Complete Box score and play-by-play are HERE.

The Braves are still 18-10 and tied with Brooklyn for second in the NL race. The Reds are 1-1/2 games clear of Milwaukee and the Dodgers.

The Braves and Phillies will try to get a full one in on May 22.

Scheduled starters 5/22/57:
