SEATTLE (MAJ: 20-35 4th American League West): The Mariners lost 7-4 to Detroit. The Tigers scored seven runs in the first inning off Carlos Silva. Adrian Beltre homered twice, but Seattle could not make up the difference.
TACOMA (AAA: 26-28, 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 7-1 at Fresno. The Grizzlies scored five runs in the first inning off Sean White (’07). Yung Chi Chen (’05) had two of the six hits for the Rainiers.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 34-21, T-1st Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx beat Mississippi 5-3. Luis Valbuena (’06) hit a three-run homer and Johan Limonta (’06) hit a solo homer for West Tennessee. Ryan Ketchner (’02) struck out seven and allowed three hits over 6-1/3 scoreless innings for his fourth win.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 26-29, T-1st California League South Division): The Mavericks beat Stockton 4-2. Ogui Diaz (’07) and Matt Mangini both hit homers for the Mavs. Anthony Varvaro (’07) struck out seven over six innings and allowed two runs on four hits for the win.
