RH JUAN RAMIREZ: Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of Nicaragua by Seattle in July 2005.
DOWN IN VENEZUELA: Ramirez made his professional debut pitching for the Aguirre in the Venezuelan Summer League in 2006. He went 5-1 with a 1.66ERA in 14 games (13 starts)
ON TO EVERETT: Ramirez made 15 starts for Seattle’s Northwest League affiliate in 2007. He was 3-7 with a 4.30 ERA for the AquaSox.
STINGY: Ramirez allowed three or fewer earned runs in 12 of those fifteen starts.
LAST START: Ramirez gave up six runs (one earned) in a loss at Cedar Rapids on May 20. He allowed four hits over 3-2/3 innings with no walks and one strikeout. Wisconsin had a 2-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but the defense committed three errors in the inning as the Kernels scored five runs. Cedar Rapids held on for an 11-6 win.
LAST WIN: Ramirez won his second consecutive start in a 7-2 Rattler victory over Burlington on May 15 on Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Ramirez allowed two runs on four hits over seven innings. He walked one and struck out three.
NUMBER NINE: Ramirez struck out nine batters in three consecutive starts. The streak started against West Michigan on April 28; continued with a start at Great Lakes on May 4; and reached three against Cedar Rapids.
VS. PEORIA: This is the first time Ramirez is facing the Chiefs. It is also his first appearance against an affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.
