Rattler History...Since 2000

Here is how the Timber Rattlers have fared on May 26…since 2000

2000: The Rattlers lost 12-8 in their first ever game at Dayton. Wisconsin led 8-2 after the top of the third inning. Ariel Durango started the game with a homer. Gorky Estrella and Ryan Christianson also homered for the Rattlers. But, Austin Kearns drove in four runs, including a three-run homer in the eighth inning to complete the comeback for the Dragons.

Rattler manager Gary Thurman was not happy after this loss. Some of the players were goofing laughing on the bus before we headed back to the hotel. He let loose with a tirade that included: I don’t want to hear a word, a laugh, a sneeze, a cough, a burp, ANYTHING until we get back to the hotel.

It was one of the quietest bus rides I've ever been on after that. When we got back to the hotel, I was scared to get off the bus. But, Thurm said I could go. Then, there was a team meeting that lasted for quite awhile. Rattler record after this game: 23-23.

2001: The Rattlers game at South Bend was rained out. Rattler record on this date: 27-19

2002: The Rattlers won 4-3 in 11 innings at Battle Creek. Dan Floyd’s RBI single in the top of the 11th was enough to beat the Battle Cats. Rattler record after this game: 23-25

2003: The Rattlers lost 10-7 at Fort Wayne. Gary Harris hit a grand slam in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game 7-7. But, the Wizards scored one run in the seventh and twice in the eighth. Rattler record after this game: 26-22

2004: The Rattlers lost 6-5 at Quad Cities. Kyle Phillips hit a two-run homer in the top of the eighth inning off Juan Ovalles to erase a 5-4 Rattler lead. Rattler record after this game: 19-26

2005: The Rattlers won 6-3 at Kane County. Yung Chi Chen hit a three-run homer as part of a four run sixth inning that erased a 3-2 Kane County lead. Rattler record after this game: 27-20

2006: The Rattlers lost 5-2 at Kane County. Curt Ledbetter hit a two run homer in the top of the fourth inning for a 2-1 lead. The Cougars scored a run in the bottom of the fourth and scored three in the fifth. Rattler record after this game: 18-29

2007: The Rattler game at Peoria was rained out. Rattler record on this date: 15-30

A 2-4 record with a couple of rainouts and a memorable bus ride make today at least interesting in Rattler history...since 2000.
