SEATTLE (MAJ: 22-40 4th American League West): The Mariners lost 11-3 at Boston. Raul Ibanez (Foxes, ’94) drove in two of Seattle’s three runs. Mark Lowe (’05) allowed five runs on four hits and a walk in 1/3 of an inning in relief as Seattle lost for the 40th time.
TACOMA (AAA: 30-31, 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers swept a doubleheader from Fresno. In a 12-4 win in game one, Tacoma got a homer and three RBI from Jeff Clement (’05) and three RBI from Bryan LaHair (’04). In the 2-1 win in game two, Victor Diaz drove in both runs.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 37-26, 2nd Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx lost 7-2 at Huntsville. Rich Dorman (’03) allowed seven runs on 11 hits and four walks with eight strikeouts for the loss. Brent Johnson (’05) had three hits and Mike Wilson (’05) and Adam Moore (’06) each had an RBI for West Tennessee as the Stars are back in first place in the division.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 27-35, 3rd California League South Division): The Mavericks beat Lake Elsinore 5-4. Leury Bonilla (’07) homered and Jamie McOwen (’07) drove in a pair of runs for the Mavs. Greg Halman (’07) broke a 4-4 tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the eighth and High Desert broke a six game losing streak.
