Midwest League Action: April 10, 2009

Complete scoreboard here.

@Wisconsin 10, Quad Cities 1: On a night when most everything went right for the Timber Rattlers, the only other trouble spot for the Rattlers was locating the ball from Lawrie's memorable home run. But they were able to track it down.

@West Michigan 6, South Bend 4: The West Michigan Whitecaps' first late-inning hero of the new season emerged Friday night.

@Dayton 6, Great Lakes 1: Ravin, a self-described “disaster” last summer, went six scoreless innings, allowing three hits and a walk while his teammates backed him with a four-run fifth on the way to a 6-1 victory Friday at chilly Fifth Third Field.

Fort Wayne 5, @Lansing 4: Drew Cumberland flared a two-out two-run tie-breaking single, leading the Fort Wayne TinCaps (2-0) to a 5-4 victory over the host Lansing Lugnuts (0-2) on Friday night at Oldsmobile Park....Or, according to the Lansing State Journal, was it...The Lansing Lugnuts produced three runs in the first inning, but little else in a 4-3 loss Friday at Oldsmobile Park against the Fort Wayne TinCaps. I think that I'm going to go with the Lugnuts website on this one...seeing as how they were...ya know...there.

Clinton 6, @Burlington 3: "Sometimes it takes the guys a little while to get used to the cold, different surroundings and stuff like that," said Bees manager Jim Gabella. "I know we have a much better offense than what we've shown the past two nights. Then again, their guy threw pretty well. Their starter had good stuff again."

Kane County 3, @Peoria 2: “We only scored three runs, so it wasn’t like we tore it up, but we did get an opportunity to keep them at bay,” Kane County manager Steve Scarsone said. “That helped us more than the runs we scored.”

@Cedar Rapids 5, Beloit 3: There were plenty of warts to go around last night — the Cedar Rapids Kernels and Beloit Snappers combined for six errors — and the Kernels’ winning rally came without the benefit of a hit.
