Milwaukee Brewer Report: Games of April 10, 2009

MILWAUKEE (MAJ: 2-2 T-2nd National League Central): The Brewers beat the Chicago Cubs 4-3 at Miller Park. Rickie Weeks drove in the tying run with a double in the bottom of the ninth inning. Then, Weeks scored the winning run by beating a throw home on a grounder to short. Hey, look! That's where the prodigal beat writer was yesterday!
The chalk and dirt still caked afterward on the arms of Rickie Weeks told the tale of a productive and memorable day, one that included a pair of dazzling defensive plays, a clutch ninth-inning hit and some heady base running — all of which led to a thrilling come-from-behind 4-3 home-opening triumph by the Milwaukee Brewers over the rival Chicago Cubs on Friday at a raucous Miller Park.
NASHVILLE (AAA: 1-1, Pacific Coast League American North Division): The Sounds defeated New Orleans 10-6. Mat Gamel went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBI for the offense. Lindsay Gulin (’98) struck out six over four innings of relief for the win.

HUNTSVILLE (AA: 1-1, Southern League South Division): The Stars beat Mobile 2-1. Vinny Rottino and Jonathon Lucroy each drove in a run in the first inning. Juan Sandoval (’03) pitched two scoreless innings to earn the save.

Boy, did the ex-Rattler earn that save...
Juan Sandoval worked out of bases loaded jams in the eighth and ninth innings...
BREVARD COUNTY (High-A: 1-1, Florida State League East Division): The Manatees lost 7-6 at Daytona. Mark Rogers allowed two hits in three scoreless innings for a no decision. Logan Schafer went 4-for-5 with two RBI for Brevard County.
