Midwest League Action: Games of June 11, 2009

Complete scoreboard

@Wisconsin 7, Kane County 3: Rattlers version | Cougars version

Burlington 4 @Beloit 1 (8 innings);
Beloit 3 @Burlington 3: The Burlington Bees got enough timely hitting to win the first game of Thursday's Class A Midwest League doubleheader against the Beloit Snappers at Community Field. The same couldn't be said for the second game.

South Bend 8 @West Michigan 7: There was no "luck of the Irish" for the West Michigan Whitecaps on Thursday night.

@Fort Wayne 4; Dayton 3 (13 innings): "We put a little more pressure on ourselves than we should have been. We finally came out and said, ‘Let’s have as much fun as we possibly can.’ Ever since that point, they have played very well.”

Great Lakes 3 @Lansing 2 (10 innings): Lugnuts version | Loooooons version

@Quad Cities 3, Cedar Rapids 2 (10 innings): Rounding second with a hit to open the bottom of the 10th inning, Travis Mitchell had to flip his helmet aside to see a clear path to third base. But even before he scored the deciding run in Thursday's 3-2 Midwest League win over Cedar Rapids, the Quad-Cities outfielder had a vivid picture of the contribution starting pitcher Gary Daley made to the River Bandits' winning effort.

@Clinton 5, Peoria 0: LumberKings version | Chiefs version

Was it just me or was the adopt-a-pet promo before the game for a FERRET!!!

Chris, you need him for the booth or trailer.

You weren't the only one, Kid. I was also shocked to hear that they make "great household pets". They look so evil. Yuck.

I think someone on the team needs to be nicknamed "The Ferret". Preferably someone young and scrappy. Preferably someone that isn't on the Rattlers roster right now, but should be on the "cutting" edge of returning soon from their placement on the Helena roster.
