ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The River Bandits beat the Timber Rattlers 9-5. Quad Cities scored at least one run in each of the first five innings. Ryde Rodriguez had two hits – including a home run – with two RBI and three runs scored.

EARLY HOLE: Quad Cities scored a run in the first, two runs in the second, two in the third, three more in the fourth, to go up 8-1.

ARNETT UPDATE: The first round pick of the Milwaukee Brewers from 2009 pitched 3-1/3 innings last night. He allowed eight runs (five earned) on six hits and struck out five without walking a batter. Eric Arnett was charged with the loss in his second start with the Rattlers. In 7-2/3 innings this season, Arnett has struck out eight batters without walking a batter. He has hit three batters and given up two home runs in his two starts.

MISHANDLED: Four errors and a passed ball in the bottom of the fourth let the River Bandits score three runs. That was the second time in 2010 the Rattlers committed four errors in an inning.

SPLITS: Wisconsin starters have an ERA of 6.57 in 38-1/3 innings pitched over the first 10 games of the season. Wisconsin relievers have an ERA of 2.22 in 44-2/3 innings pitched over the first ten games of the season.

HIT PARADE: The Timber Rattlers offense collected a season high 13 hits last night. Khris Davis had three hits to lead the way.

EXTRA SPECIAL: Nine of the 13 hits for the Rattlers went for extra bases. There were eight doubles and a triple in the mix. All three of Davis’ hits were doubles. Chris Dennis and Franklin Romero, Jr. had two doubles, and Scooter Gennett had the other. Pete Fatse had the triple.

SKYROCKETING: The Rattlers started this road trip on April 14 with a team batting average of .251. After last night, they are hitting .272. In the first four games of the trip, Wisconsin is 43-for-144 (.299).

ON THE ROAD: Davis is 10-for-19 (.526) in the first four games of this road trip.

YOUR FACT OF THE DAY: The Rattlers have lost five straight games to the River Bandits at Modern Woodmen Park.

ABOUT THE OPPONENTS: The Quad Cities River Bandits are the Midwest League affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. They are off to an 8-2 start this season. The River Bandits had a six game winning streak snapped Friday night in Clinton. Last season, the River Bandits missed the playoffs. They were 30-40 in the first half and 31-38 in the second half to compile an overall record of 61-78. Johnny Rodriguez is in his first season as the manager of the River bandits.

COMPARE AND CONTRAST: The Timber Rattlers are hitting .272 as a team. They have scored 52 runs (5.2/game) and hit 4 home runs. The Bandits are hitting .254 as a team. They have scored 55 runs (5.5/game) and hit 7 homers. Wisconsin pitchers have a team ERA of 4.23 while allowing a total of 56 runs (5.6/game) this season. Quad Cities pitchers have a team ERA of 3.60 while allowing 38 runs (3.8/game). The Timber Rattler defense has committed 23 errors. The River Bandits defense has committed 8 errors. QUAD CITIES STARTING PITCHER: RHP Scott Schneider was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 20th round of the 2009 draft out of St. Mary’s (CA) College. In his final season with the Gaels, Schneider was 6-4 with a 4.54 ERA. Schneider split time in his first pro season between Batavia in the New York-Penn League and Quad Cities. As a Muckdog, he was 2-0 with a save and 0.92 ERA over 12 games (5 starts). In five starts with the Bandits last season, Schneider was 1-3 with a 3.45ERA. He walked 13 and struck out 76 over 70-2/3 innings as a pro in 2009. In the 2010 season, Schneider has made two appearances (one start). He is 1-0 and has not allowed a run in nine innings. In his last appearance, Schneider allowed one hit over four innings of relief and struck out five Cedar Rapids Kernels on April 13. Today is the first time Schneider is pitching against the Timber Rattlers and the first time he is facing an affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers.
