Midwest League Action: Games of April 17, 2010

Complete scoreboard

WEST:

@Quad Cities 9, Wisconsin 5: "What happened in Clinton, letting that one get way, was almost embarrassing," said River Bandits outfielder D'Marcus Ingram, who knocked in a pair of runs. "It was a team effort when we lost, and we made up for it with a good team effort in this one."

@Beloit 4, Clinton 3 (11 innings): Dueling headlines! Beloit: Wild Walk Off Prevail Snappers to Win. | Clinton: Wild Pitch Hands Game to Beloit in 11th

Cedar Rapids 14 @Kane County 6 Kernels version: Kernels offense strikes early and often in 14-6 rout of Cougars | Cougars version: Cougars Knocked Out by Kernels

@Peoria 7, Burlington 6: Opening days are about beginning. The Peoria Chiefs made their 2010 home opener about the big inning.

EAST:

South Bend 6 @Dayton 3:
Dayton Dragons manager Todd Benzinger did everything but cover his ears when pregame talk turned to the 0-9 record of the opponent Saturday, April 17.

He cringed when told the South Bend Silver Hawks had loaded the bases 11 times in those nine losses with one run to show for it.

“It just means they’re not getting any breaks,” Benzinger said. “I’m very suspicious of that stuff. Like I told someone, I wish they were 1-8.”
@West Michigan 4, Great Lakes 2: And despite winning for the fourth time in the past five days, DePastino was frustrated by 14 stranded runners and going 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Fort Wayne 6 @Lake County 2:
There was a lot of shoulder shrugging in the Captains' locker room after their 6-2 loss to Fort Wayne on Saturday. It's baseball. Sometimes you lose.

The loss was significant in that it spoiled the Lake County's perfect 9-0 record. But there are 130 games left.
@Lansing 7, Bowling Green 1: Tepera, Lugnuts shut down Hot Rods
