POST-CRESCENT HEADLINE: Foxes bow, 1-0, on unearned run
The winning rally (taken from Gary Shriver's game story):
The Muskies scored in the sixth. Felix Jose was safe on an error by second baseman [Jerry] Bertolani. [John] Kanter forced Jose at second, moved up on Roy Anderson's swinging-bunt single and scored on [Pat] Dietrick's single to right center.Steve Oswald was the starter for the Foxes. He went 7-1/3 innings, allowed the unearned run, gave up six hits, walked three and struck out four.
But, he took the loss as the Foxes stranded 11 runners in the game.
Appleton is 12-7. They are 4.5 games behind the 17-3 Muskies in the Northern Division.
From the FOXES TALES part of the story:
The Foxes completed the month of April without a single [home] rainout, an unusual if not unprecedented occurance. Foxes officials credit the new tarpaulin for saving at least two games.Remember, there was no tarp for Goodland Field before the 1985 season. That topic was covered a bit in this article.
