Seattle (MAJ: 43-46; 4th AL West): Seattle beat Detroit 3-2. Rene Rivera (WI ’03) had a two-run homer for the Mariners. Gil Meche (WI ’98) allowed two runs on four hits and struck out eight over seven innings for the win. JJ Putz (WI ’00) earned his sixteenth save of the season with a scoreless ninth inning.
Tacoma (AAA – 50-38; 2nd PCL Pacific Northern Division): Tacoma beat Portland 6-5. Hunter Brown (WI ’02) was 2-for-3 with four RBI. Bobby Livingston (WI ’03) gave up four runs on ten hits over five innings for the win.
San Antonio (AA – 37-48; 10-7 second half 2nd Texas League South Division): San Antonio beat Midland 5-4 in eleven innings. The Missions took a 3-2 lead into the top of the eighth inning, but Midland scored a run in the eighth to tie and a run in the ninth to take a 4-3 lead. Sebastien Boucher (WI ’05) drove in the tying run in the bottom of the ninth and Oswaldo Navarro (WI ’05) drove in the winning run in the eleventh. Jason Mackintosh (WI ’04) got the win in relief.
Inland Empire (High-A – 47-39, 8-8 second half; T-2nd California League South Division): Inland Empire beat Lancaster 11-9. Chris Colton (WI ’05) was 4-for-5 with five RBI for 66ers with a homer and a pair of doubles. Justin Thomas (WI ’06) gave up seven runs on fourteen hits over 6-2/3 innings, but got his fourth win of the season. There have also been a few more roster moves. Are you surprised that Brian Schweiger is involved?
Everett (Short Season-A – 11-10; T-3rd Northwest League West Division): Everett lost 10-8 to Eugene in ten innings. The Sox had a pair of leads in the game, but two different pitchers had blown saves. Gavin Dickey was 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Mike Schilling was the starter for the Sox and gave up two runs on six hits over five innings for a no decision. Rollie Gibson (WI ’06) took the loss for allowing three runs (one earned) in the top of the tenth.
AZL M’s (Rookie – 9-6; 4th Arizona League): The Mariners lost 8-3 to the Royals.
