SEATTLE (MAJ: 18-27 4th American League West): The Mariners beat San Diego 3-2. Jose Lopez hit a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning to put Seattle in front. JJ Putz (’00) pitched a scoreless ninth for his fifth save.
TACOMA (AAA: 22-20, 2nd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 4-2 to Tucson. Bryan LaHair (’04) had two of Tacoma’s five hits. Tacoma has lost five of six games against the Sidewinders this season.
WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 26-17, 2nd Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx beat Mobile 7-6. Denny Stark (’97) pitched seven shutout innings and allowed two hits for the win. Mike Wilson (’05) hit a pair of homers and drove in four runs to help West Tennessee to a 7-0 lead. Mobile scored six times in the top of the ninth inning to make the score close.
HIGH DESERT (High-A: 19-25, T-2nd California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 6-5 at Rancho Cucamonga. Greg Halman (’07) homered – his eleventh of the season – and drove in two runs. Korey Feiner (’08) also drove in a run for High Desert, but the Mavs couldn't rally from a 5-0 deficit.
