Mariner System Report (Games of 5/9)

SEATTLE (MAJ: 14-23 4th American League West): The Mariners lost 4-2 to the Chicago White Sox. Wladimir Balentien (’04) hit a solo homer in the ninth inning, his third long ball of the season, but Seattle lost their fourth straight.

TACOMA (AAA: 17-17, 3rd Pacific Coast League Pacific Northern Division): The Rainiers lost 3-0 at Iowa. Oswaldo Navarro (’05) had one of Tacoma’s four hits.

WEST TENNESSEE (AA: 22-13, 2nd Southern League North Division): The Diamond Jaxx beat Mississippi 9-8. Michael Saunders (’06) drove in three runs for West Tennessee. Luis Valbuena (’06) drove in the tying run with a single in the bottom of the seventh inning. The go ahead run scored on a wild pitch. Mumba Rivera (’05) pitched a scoreless ninth for his fifth save of the season.

HIGH DESERT (High-A: 15-20, T-3rd California League South Division): The Mavericks lost 6-4 to Rancho Cucamonga. The Quakes scored four times in the top of the ninth to rally for the win. A grand slam by Abel Nieves gave the Quaked the lead.
