Rattler History...Since 2000

Here is how the Rattlers have fared on May 5…since 2000

2000: The Rattlers beat Burlington 7-5 at Community Field. I was not at this game because the Green Bay Gamblers were hosting the Junior ‘A’ National Championships.

2001: The Rattlers lost 1-0 to Peoria at home. Chris Narveson outpitched Kevin Olore. Tim Lemon homered in the fifth inning for the Chiefs, that was one of three hits off Olore in his eight innings.

2002: Clinton won their third straight over the Rattlers with a 5-2 win. Renee Cortez allowed five runs (two earned) and took the loss. Greg Dobbs and Jason Rainey had the RBI for the Rattlers.

2003: The Rattlers lost 10-6 at Lansing. Felix Pie scored twice in the game for the Lugnuts. Matt Hagen had a three run homer for the Rattlers that tied the game 3-3 briefly. Very briefly.

2004: The Rattlers lost 9-8 to Beloit at home. Wisconsin led 5-4 heading to the seventh. Beloit scored three times in that inning and twice more in the eighth. The Rattlers did get the tying run to third base in the bottom of the ninth, but left him there.

2005: The Rattlers lost 6-3 at Southwest Michigan. The Devil Rays won their third straight over Wisconsin. The Rattlers loaded the bases with two outs in the top of the ninth and scored a run to get to within three. But, Jose de la Cruz got Josh Womack for the final out.

2006: The Rattlers won 8-6 at Cedar Rapids. Wisconsin scored a pair of runs in the top of the ninth. Jairo Hernandez doubled in a run to break the tie. Edgar Guaramato worked a scoreless ninth for the save.

2007: The Rattlers won 3-2 at South Bend. Two near brawls in the top of the ninth marked this one. Gavin Dickey plowed into catcher Richard Mercado on a wild pitch, but was out, to get the tensions going. Greg Halman got hit by a pitch. Then, Carlos Triunfel got hit by another pitch. Andrew Barb gave up a run in the bottom of the ninth, but held on for the save.

A 3-5 record and some tough losses make May 5 a crummy day.
