Rattler History...Since 2000

Here is how the Timber Rattlers have fared on May 7...Since 2000.

2000: The Timber Rattlers won 10-5 at Burlington. I was not at this game because of the Junior 'A' National Hockey Championships in Green Bay.

2001: The Rattlers won 8-4 at Cedar Rapids. Wisconsin scored four runs in the second inning. Zack Roper hit a grand slam for the Kernels in the third inning. The score stayed that way until the top of the ninth inning. Jamie Bubela cracked a two-out double with the bases loaded to drive in three. John Castellano followed with an RBI double. Dan Head won the game with four scoreless innings in relief.

2002: Kane County swept a doubleheader from the Timber Rattlers in Grand Chute.

GAME ONE: The Cougars won 8-0. Dontrelle Willis pitched a 7-inning complete game 4-hit shutout for the Cougars. The Rattlers didn't get a hit off Willis until Dan Floyd's two-out single in the sixth.

GAME TWO: Kane County won 6-2 in eight innings. Jeff Ellena hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game 2-2. But, the Cougars scored four times in the top of the eighth. A two-out error on a grounder by Rex Rundgren with the bases loaded allowed the first run to score. Kane County tacked on three more runs rather quickly.

2003: Lansing shutout the Rattlers 4-0 at Oldsmobile Park. This game was supposed to start at 10:30am. It got started at 11:51am. Ryan Theriot and Felix Pie had back-to-back RBI hits off Beau Hintz in the third inning. Carlos Vasquez, Federico Baez, and Wes O'Brien combined on the 5-hit shutout.

2004: The Rattlers beat the Battle Creek Yankees 11-6 at home. Wisconsin scored nine runs in the first three innings. Brent Metheny had three hits and three RBI for the Rattlers. Tom Oldham started, but did not get the win as he lasted just four innings.

2005: Dayton beat the Rattlers 6-2 at home. Casey Abrams allowed five unearned runs in the first inning. Homer Bailey struck out five over three innings in relief of winning pitcher Brad Morenko.

2006: Cedar Rapids beat the Rattlers 6-5 at the Vet. The Kernels had an early 5-0 lead on Jose Escalona. Wisconsin rallied to within 5-3 on RBI singles by JB Tucker and Eddy Hernandez in the fourth and Hernandez again in the sixth. The Kernels scored in the bottom of the sixth off Rollie Gibson. Ron Garth homered in the eighth and an RBI grounder by Jeffrey Dominguez got the Rattlers to within 6-5. But, Ryan Aldridge struck out the last two batters to close out the game.

2007: South Bend beat the Rattlers 9-3 at The Cove. They scored six times off Anthony Varvaro in the first three innings. The Hawks cruised to the win.

A 3-6 record for the Rattlers with help from performances by Dontrelle Willis, Ryan Theriot, and Felix Pie. Kind of a crummy day in Rattler history...since 2000.
