Rattler History...Since 2000

Here is how the Rattlers have fared on May 17...since 2000:

2000: The Rattlers were off. Rattler record on this day: 19-17.

2001: The Rattlers won 4-3 over Fort Wayne in Grand Chute. Erik Grunwald tossed seven shutout innings and the Rattlers had a comfortable 3-0 lead, but the Wizards scored three times in the top of the eighth off Russ Morgan. Joe Dusan scored the winning run on a two-outwild pitch in the bottom of the ninth. Rattler record after this game: 25-15

2002: The Rattlers won 5-1 at Cedar Rapids. Phil Cullen pitched 5-1/3 scoreless innings despite walking six and hitting a batter for the win. Jeff Ellena hit a three-run double off Jake Woods in the fourth inning for a 4-0 lead. Dan Head allowed one run over 3-2/3 innings for the save. Rattler record after this game: 19-21

2003: The Rattlers won 5-3 in 11 innings at Peoria. Dustin Delucchi tied the game with a two-out, two-run double in the top of the ninth inning. Corey Harrington and Delucchi both drove in runs in the top of the eleventh. Rattler record after this game: 22-18

2004: The Rattlers beat Cedar Rapids 9-6 in Grand Chute. Tom Oldham struck out 13 over seven shutout innings and Wladimir Balentien hit a pair of homers while driving in five. Matt Brown hit a pair of homers for the Kernels after Oldham left the game, but Brian Stitt got his eighth save. Rattler record after this game: 16-22

2005: The Rattlers crushed the Lugnuts 17-8 in Lansing. Marshall Hubbard had his first 5-hit game of the season. He also hit a pair of homers and drove in seven runs. Rattler record after this game: 21-18

2006: The Rattlers lost 2-0 in a rain-shortened, day game at Kane County. Paul Fagan was the tough luck loser for the Rattlers as this game ended with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. The story was that there was this massive storm headed toward Elfstrom Stadium. It began to rain and the tarp was placed on the field. It never really rained hard, but no one had ever seen anything like the storm that was headed at Geneva, Illinois. The game was called. The sun shined on the entire bus ride back to the hotel. Rattler record after this game: 17-22.

2007: The Rattlers beat Lansing 4-3 in Grand Chute. Rob Harmon got the win with a couple innings of scoreless relief and Andrew Barb got his fifth save by getting the final four outs. Rattler record after this game: 11-26

I would say a 6-1 record on May 17 makes this a pretty good day in Rattler history...since 2000.
