Today's Rattler Starter (5/9)

RH JUAN RAMIREZ: Signed as a non-drafted free agent out of Nicaragua by Seattle in July 2005.

DOWN IN VENEZUELA: Ramirez made his professional debut pitching for the Aguirre in the Venezuelan Summer League in 2006. He went 5-1 with a 1.66ERA in 14 games (13 starts)

ON TO EVERETT: Ramirez made 15 starts for Seattle’s Northwest League affiliate in 2007. He was 3-7 with a 4.30 ERA for the AquaSox.

STINGY: Ramirez allowed three or fewer earned runs in 12 of those fifteen starts.

LAST START: Ramirez took the loss at Great Lakes on May 4. He allowed four runs on seven hits over 6-1/3 innings in a 4-2 loss. Ramirez walked one and matched his career high for strikeouts in a game. He left the game with the Rattlers trailing 3-2 and a runner on base in the bottom of the seventh.

LAST HOME START: Ramirez struck out nine batters over seven innings against the West Michigan Whitecaps on April 28 to set single-game career highs in both categories. He allowed three runs on five hits and left the game with the score tied 3-3. The Whitecaps won 4-4.

VS. CEDAR RAPIDS: This is the first appearance for Ramirez against the Kernels. This is also his first appearance against an affiliate of the Angels.
